It is the branch of science that helps to explore the various chemical processes occurring within and related to the living matter and studies these mechanisms by using chemical knowledge and techniques to understand and solve biological problems. Biochemistry deals with the structures, functions and interactions of biological macromolecules, such as proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates and lipids, which provide the structure of cells and perform many of the functions associated with life.
