The institue main goal is the development of fundamental knowledge, which is a pre requisite for the understanding and valorisation of biodiversity as well as for all genetic, technological and biotechnological applications in the agricultural field. Particular focus is given to the training of young researchers, graduate and undergraduate students working on their theses. The National Research Council (CNR) is a public organization; its duty is to carry out, promote, spread, transfer and improve research activities in the main sectors of knowledge growth and of its applications for the scientific, technological, economic and social development of the Country. The mission of the institute is to improve the knowledge of the molecular basis underlying processes, at every level (cell, tissue) in the agronomic interesting organisms. This knowledge aimed to an improvement of both diversification and quality in crop production.
