Kumamoto University was established under the National School Establishment Law, which reformed the preceding Japanese educational system and opened its wings in Medical, Pharma and technical branches. Since the Universitys inception, a number of allied schools and facilities have been incorporated and developed within its structure. Currently the University is home for around 8100 undergraduate and 2000 graduate students. University started accepting government sponsored international students and currently around 300 international students were there in the department of medicine Kumamato University aims to contribute to the community and global society by cultivating intelligent, moral, and skillful people, while working for the creation, inheritance, and development of knowledge, following the spirit of the Fundamental Law of Education and the School Education Law.
