University of Guilan was established in the year 1974 with a collaborative effort between Iran and West Germany. The University is the best major university for higher education which is located in Rasht, a large city bordering the Caspian Sea which was in the province of Gilan, located in the northern Iran. It is a public university. The university is the largest educational university in the northern Iran region. It is having 17,000 students currently with an academic staff of about 550. At present the university has four campuses which are housing in 10 faculties and research institutes. The main fundamental mission of the university is the advancement and dissemination of knowledge and its understanding.
