The decrease in mother-to-child transmission of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is observed as one of the most active public health advantages in the United States. In the nonappearance of treatment, the danger of vertical transmission of HIV is as high as 25-30%. With the application of HIV testing, counselling, antiretroviral medication, delivery by cesarean unit prior to onset of labor, and depressing breastfeeding, the mother-to-infant transmission has reduced to less than 2% in the United States.
