Macrophage cytokines

Macrophage cytokines are a type of white blood cells that engulf and digest the cellular debris, foreign substances and cancer cells. This process is known as phagocytosis. They are found in essentially all the tissues. Their main function is to remove all the dead cells and tissues.

Macrophages within the cytokine network, are a major source of many cytokines involved in immune response, hematopoiesis, inflammation and many other homeostatic processes.
