The main islands are Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu. It is the land consisting of 118 volcanoes. The climate of Japan is predominantly temperate, but varies greatly from north to south. Japan is located in the Pacific Ocean with high-rise-filled cities, imperial palaces, mountainous national parks and thousands of shrines and temples.
