Biography
Randall McPherran, OD, FAAO received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry where he also received his certificate of residency in Pediatrics and Binocular Vision. Dr. McPherran serves the American Academy of Optometry as an Admissions Committee member and additionally works with the Education Quality Assurance Committee. He is a manuscript submission reviewer for Optometry and Vision Science, as well as for the California Optometry magazine’s print and online submissions. Dr. McPherran is a certified course reviewer for the Association of Regulatory Boards of Optometry (ARBO) and the Council on Optometric Practitioner Education (COPE). He has served as a past Chief Examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry Clinical Skills Examination. Dr. McPherran’s clinical focus is on ocular pathology/disease with an emphasis on glaucoma in the underserved rural health care setting. Dr. McPherran enjoys family time hiking, is an avid scuba diver and holds a Dive Master certification.
