Biography

Dr. Ahmed Sallam is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics at Assiut University, Egypt where he has been a faculty member since 2005. Currently, he is working as a Research Scientist at Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, University of Lincoln-Nebraska, USA. Dr. Sallam started his M.Sc. in 2005 and has occupied a Research Assistant at the Department of Genetics in Assiut University up to 2010. In 2011, he started his P.hD studies at University of Göttingen for three years. After his P.hD. he became an Assistant Professor at the Department of Genetics, Assiut University. He is currently a Research Scientist at Department of Agronomy & Horticulture, University of Lincoln-Nebraska, USA. Dr. Sallam received a Ph.D. award from German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and Postdoctoral fellowship from Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education.

Research Interest

His research interest is improving abiotic and biotic stress tolerance in cereals and legumes using advances in molecular plant breeding and genetics (e.g. QTL mapping, genome wide association study, and genomic selection).
