Biography

Dr Sadanandan E Velu has received his PhD in Organic Chemistry at the University of Madras in 1993. He did his postdoctoral research at the University of Alabama and at Clemson University. Currently he is working as a Tenured Associate Professor in the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is serving as an editorial member of several reputed journals like Marine Drugs and Current Chemical Research. He has authored 36 research articles and is an inventor/coinventor of 5 US patents. He is a member of American Chemical Society American Association of Cancer Research and American Heart Association. He also holds coappointments as Associate Scientist in Comprehensive Cancer Center and Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences of the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His Organic Chemistry course was honored as an example of best practices in a national study of chemistry courses conducted by the Center for Educational Policy Research on behalf of the College Board in 2005.

Organic/Medicinal Chemistry, Drug Discovery and Development, Anti-cancer and Anti-infective Agents, Structure Based Drug Design, Fragment based Drug Discovery, In-Silico Virtual Screening, Structure Activity Relationship studies, Lead Optimization, Pharmacokinetics, Toxicity Studies, Parallel Synthesis, Synthesis of Marine Natural Products and their Analogs, Development of Synthetic and Analytical Methods.
