Indonesia officially the Republic of Indonesia is a country in Southeast Asia. The country is Situated between the Indian and Pacific Ocean and it is the largest island country, with more than thirteen thousand islands. It is a most populous muslim majority country.
Indonesia lies between latitudes 11°S and 6°N, and longitudes 95°E and 141°E. It is the largest archipelagic country in the world, extending 5,120 kilometres (3,181 mi) from east to west and 1,760 kilometres (1,094 mi) from north to south. According to a geospatial survey conducted between 2007 and 2010 by National Coordinating Agency for Survey and Mapping (Bakosurtanal), Indonesia has 13,466 islands, about 6,000 of which are inhabited. These are scattered over both sides of the equator. The largest are Java, Sumatra, New Guinea, and Sulawesi. Indonesia shares land borders with Malaysia on Borneo, Papua New Guinea on the island of New Guinea, and East Timor on the island of Timor. Indonesia shares maritime borders across narrow straits with Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Palau to the north, and with Australia to the south. The capital, Jakarta, is on Java and is the nation's largest city, followed by Surabaya, Bandung, Medan, and Semarang.

Since doctors enthusiasts to follow the Asian Colloquium in Nephrology, is the first in Singapore, in 1974, the desire to unite themselves in scientific organizations engaged in the field of Nephrology. Then on Otober 5, 1976, the first congress of the Association of Nephrology diresmikanlah Indonesia (PERNEFRI). In Indonesia a country of at least 200 million people in which approximately 30%, or 70 million are younger than 15 years of age, there are 11 centers for renal diagnosis and therapy; 9 offer dialysis and only 2 perform renal renal transplantation. One of these centers offers postresidency fellowship training in pediatric nephrology. Seven university hospitals throughout Indonesia undertook a collaborative retrospective-prospective study from 1984 to 1988 to investigate the spectrum of renal diseases among hospitalized children (21). Of the 104,457 patients admitted to the hospitals over this period, 2892 (3%) had some kidney or urinary tract complaint. The most common kidney diseases encountered were nephrotic syndrome (35%), acute glomerulonephritis (26%), and urinary tract infections (23%). The study showed that the profile of renal diseases was uniform throughout the country and that no noticeable changes in incidences of disease occurred during the 5 year period.
