It is one of the G4 nations seeking permanent membership in the Security Council.

It is also the world's fourth-largest exporter and fourth-largest importer. Although Japan has officially renounced its right to declare war, it maintains a modern military with the world's eighth largest military budget,[15] used for self-defense and peacekeeping roles. Japan is a developed country with a high standard of living and Human Development Index whose population enjoys the highest life expectancy, the third lowest infant mortality in the worldMany of today's enterprises were founded at the time, and Japan emerged as the most developed nation in Asia.

In Physiology, Medicine and Chemistry, this island nation produced 24 Nobel laureates so far. Various research works are going on the Oncology journals in Japan country. Satoshi Å?mura is a Japanese biochemist. He is known for the discovery and development of various pharmaceuticals originally occurring in microorganisms. In 2015, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine jointly with William C. Campbell and Tu Youyou. Susumu Tonegawa and Shinya Yamanaka also awarded with nobel prize for their research work related to immunology which is a branch of Medicne and Physiology.
