Abstract
Peripheral neuropathy is a condition that arises from damage to the peripheral nervous system, which consists of nerves outside the brain and spinal cord. This network of nerves plays a vital role in sending information from the brain and spinal cord to the rest of the body, including muscles, skin, and organs. When these nerves are damaged, it can lead to various symptoms and complications, significantly impacting the quality of life. The peripheral nervous system comprises three main types of nerves: sensory, motor, and autonomic. Sensory nerves carry signals related to touch, pain, and temperature from the body to the brain. Motor nerves control muscle movement, while autonomic nerves regulate involuntary functions such as heart rate and digestion. Peripheral neuropathy can affect one or more of these nerve types, leading to a range of symptoms and complications.
