It refers to the invasion and multiplication of microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites, within a host organism's body. These microorganisms, often referred to as pathogens, can cause a wide range of illnesses and diseases in the host, ranging from mild to severe, and can have significant implications for public health. Infections are a constant concern in the field of medicine and biology, as they play a pivotal role in understanding the dynamics of disease, the development of treatments and vaccines, and the overall health and well-being of individuals and communities.
