Innovations in Organ Preservation: Improving Transplant Success Rates
Received Date: Jun 01, 2024 / Published Date: Jun 29, 2024
Abstract
Organ transplantation remains the gold standard treatment for end-stage organ failure. However, the limited availability of suitable organs and the constraints imposed by cold storage preservation techniques significantly hamper transplant success rates. This article explores recent advancements in organ preservation, including machine perfusion, hypothermic oxygenated perfusion, and other emerging strategies. These innovations aim to mitigate ischemiareperfusion injury, improve organ viability, and extend preservation times, ultimately leading to better transplant outcomes.
