Received Date: Jun 01, 2024 / Published Date: Jun 29, 2024
Abstract
Liver transplantation (LT) is a life-saving procedure for patients with end-stage liver disease (ESLD) and acute liver failure. Over the past several decades, advancements in surgical techniques, immunosuppressive regimens, and posttransplant care have significantly improved patient survival and graft function. However, challenges persist, including organ shortage, transplant rejection, and long-term complications such as graft failure and malignancies. This review aims to examine the current trends in liver transplantation, recent advances, and strategies for optimizing outcomes. The article explores donor-recipient matching, immunosuppressive strategies, early graft dysfunction management, and long-term care to provide a comprehensive approach to enhancing liver transplantation results.
