Abstract
Reconstructive surgery is a specialized field of surgery aimed at restoring the function and appearance of parts of the body that have been damaged due to injury, disease, congenital defects, or previous surgical procedures. Unlike cosmetic surgery, which is focused on aesthetic improvement, reconstructive surgery prioritizes the functional and structural restoration of bodily tissues. This article explores the various types of reconstructive surgeries, including breast reconstruction, burn reconstruction, and congenital defect correction. It also examines the techniques and advancements in the field, the psychological and emotional impact on patients, and the challenges that surgeons face. Finally, the article discusses how reconstructive surgery significantly enhances the quality of life for individuals, helping them regain confidence and functionality.
