Abstract
Hearing loss is a prevalent problem among people of all ages. It can occur due to various reasons, including aging, exposure to loud noise, and certain medical conditions. In otolaryngology, hearing tests are an essential part of the diagnostic process. This article discusses the importance of hearing tests in otolaryngology and how they can help diagnose and treat hearing loss. Hearing tests in otolaryngology are performed to evaluate a patient's ability to hear sounds of different frequencies and intensities. There are several types of hearing tests, including puretone audiometry, speech audiometry, and tympanometry. Pure-tone audiometry measures a person's ability to hear different frequencies of sound, while speech audiometry measures a person's ability to understand spoken words at different volumes. Tympanometry measures the movement of the eardrum in response to changes in air pressure.
