Italy is located in the Southern European Region and it is also known to be the long boot shaped Italian Peninsula. It is often referred as Boot. Italy shares its borders with France, Austria, Switzerland and Slovenia.
Geography of the country:
Major part of the geographical border is sharing with the Switzerland about 698km, coastal lane of Italy is around 7600kms. The prime part of the country is covered with the mountains. The largest river in Italy is Po, which flows about 652 km wide. Volcanic erosions are most probably found in the region of Ponza, Capraia, Eolie etc. Adriatic Sea and Tyrrhenian sea are major rivers flows in the Italy.
