Friedemann Freund

Biography

Dr. Friedemann Freund has done Ph.D. Marburg University, Germany 1959. Assistant Professor, Chemistry, University of Göttingen, Germany, 1962–1969. Professor of Geosciences, University of Cologne, Germany, 1970–1987; Visiting Scientist at Stanford (1973, 1974). His Research Interests Defects and impurities in crystals caused by the incorporation of traces of H2O, CO2 and othergas/fluid components into oxide materials and minerals. Proton conductivity. Organic chemistry in the solid state, low-z element segregation in the solid state and origin of Life. Organics in dust grains in the diffuse interstellar medium. Semiconductor aspects of mineral and rock physics in relation to earthquake phenomena.
