About the Journal

Journal of Marine Science: Research & Development is an ºÚÁÏÍø that aims to publish studies on the ocean, its ecosystems and its life forms as well as the coastal environments, oceanic currents and the sea floor.

The Journal provides the most complete and reliable source of information on the discoveries and current developments as original articles, review articles, case reports, short communications, etc. in all areas of the field and making them available online free of any restrictions or subscriptions to the researchers worldwide.

This scientific journal is using Editorial Manager System for quality in review process. Editorial manager system is an online manuscript submission, review and tracking systems. Review processing is performed by the editorial board members of the Journal of Marine Science: Research & Development or outside experts; at least two independent reviewer’s approval followed by the editor is required for the acceptance of any citable manuscript. Authors may submit manuscripts and track their progress through the system, hopefully to publication. Reviewers can download manuscripts and submit their opinions to the editor. Editors can manage the whole submission/review/revise/in this Peer Reviewed Journal.

Seaweed

Seaweed is a macroscopic, multicellular, marine algae that lives near the seabed. The term includes some members of the red, brown, and green algae. The study of seaweed is known as Phycology. They belong to three different groups, empirically distinguished since the mid-nineteenth century on the basis of thallus color.

Sea Grass

Seagrasses are flowering plants belonging to four plant families (Posidoniaceae, Zosteraceae, Hydrocharitaceae, or Cymodoceaceae), all in the order Alismatales (in the class of monocotyledons), which grow in marine, fully saline environments.Seagrasses form extensive beds or meadows, which can be either monospecific or in mixed beds where more than one species coexist.

Brackish Water

Brackish water or briny water is water that has more salinity than fresh water, but not as much as seawater. It may result from mixing of seawater with fresh water, as in estuaries, or it may occur in brackish fossil aquifers. Certain human activities can produce brackish water, in particular certain civil engineering projects such as dikes and the flooding of coastal marshland to produce brackish water pools for freshwater prawn farming.

Blue Carbon Sequestration

Blue carbon sequestration refers to the capture and storage of carbon dioxide by marine and coastal ecosystems, such as mangroves, seagrasses, and salt marshes.

These ecosystems act as effective carbon sinks, mitigating climate change by absorbing CO? from the atmosphere and storing it in plant and sediments.

Mangrove Ecosystem

Mangrove ecosystems are coastal areas characterized by salt-tolerant trees and shrubs that thrive in brackish water.

They provide critical habitat for diverse marine and terrestrial species, act as against storms and erosion, and play a key role in carbon sequestration.

Ichthyoplankton

refers to the microscopic early life stages of fish, including eggs and larvae, that drift in the water column.
These stages are critical for understanding fish population dynamics, growth, and survival. Studying ichthyoplankton helps in assessing fish stocks, managing fisheries, and conserving marine ecosystems.

Photoendosymbiosis

Photoendosymbiosis is a mutualistic relationship where photosynthetic microorganisms, such as algae or cyanobacteria, live within the cells of a host organism.
The microorganisms provide the host with essential nutrients produced through , while benefiting from a protected environment.

Marine Microbiome Analysis

Marine microbiome analysis studies the diverse microbial communities in oceanic and coastal environments.
It focuses on understanding how these microorganisms interact with each other and their surroundings, their roles in , and their impact on marine ecosystems.

Coral Bleaching

Coral bleaching occurs when corals lose their vibrant colors and turn white due to stress, typically caused by elevated sea temperatures, pollution, or changes in water quality.
This stress disrupts the symbiotic relationship between corals and their algae, leading to a decline in and reef ecosystems.

*2023 Journal Impact Factor was established by dividing the number of articles published in 2021 and 2022 with the number of times they are cited in 2023 based on Google Scholar Citation Index database. If 'X' is the total number of articles published in 2021 and 2022, and 'Y' is the number of times these articles were cited in indexed journals during 2023 then, journal impact factor = Y/X
