Biography

Michel van den Heuvel (1966, Afferden) studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam. In 1999, he obtained his PhD degree from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam with his research on the role of the dendritic cell in asthma. Subsequently, he specialized in the field of lung diseases.In 2005 he worked as a pulmonologist at the Tygerberg Academic Hospital of Stellenbosch University in Cape Town, South Africa. In 2006 he joined the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital and specialized in thoracic oncology, with a particular focus on: chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapy.
