Biography

Dr Linfa (Lin-Fa) Wang is currently a CEO Science Leader at the CSIRO Australian Animal Health Laboratory (AAHL) and an honorary professor at the University of Melbourne. Dr Wang is an international leader in the field of emerging zoonotic viruses. He is a member of the WHO SARS Scientific Research Advisory Committee, and played a key role in identification of bats as the natural host of SARS-like viruses. His research group also played a major role in the discovery and molecular analysis of Hendra virus, Nipah virus, Melaka virus, and many other novel bat-borne viruses. Dr Wang has more than 200 scientific publications, including papers in Science, Nature Review of Microbiology, PNAS, etc. He is currently serving on seven editorial boards for publications in the areas of virology, biotechnology and immunotechnology. He is an elected fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering.
