Michael Wrobel is currently Associate Professor at Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Olsztyn (Poland). He earned his Bachelor of Biology at University of Warmia and Masury in Olsztyn, in 2002, and his PhD in Faculty of Biology from University of Warmia and Masury in Olsztyn, in 2008. In his thesis work he pioneered the adverse effect of chlorinated xenobiotics on bovine myometrial contractions. After completing his MSc, Wrobel accepted a position as Assistant in Department of Cattle Physiology and Endocrinology, Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research, Polish Academy of Sciences Professor. In 2009, he accepted an Associate Professor position at the Department of Physiology and Toxicology of Reproduction, Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research, Polish Academy of Sciences. In 2011 he was awarded by individual Bielanski’s Prize by Association of Biology of Reproduction. Michael Wrobel has 24 refereed publications.
The adverse effect of environmental pollutants (pesticides and polychlorinated biphenyls) on reproductive processes in cow. It was found that the chloroorganic xenobiotics affect the force of myometrial contractions in cattle. The impairment of synthesis and secretion of oxytocin (OT) in ovary and prostaglandin (PG) F2α in uterus is a part of the mechanism of the xenobiotics action.
