Biography
Dr. Sahar El-Etr received her PhD in Microbial Pathogenesis from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2002. Between 2002 and 2006, she was a Postdoctoral fellow in the Laboratory of Dr. Stanley Falkow at Stanford School of Medicine. She is currently a Biomedical Scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). She serves as a member of LLNL’s institutional Biosafety Committee. Dr. El-Etr is a member of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the Association of Women in Science (AWIS).
Research Interest
Dr. El-Etr primary research interest is in Biodefense. She is interested in the interactions of Francisella tularensis with mammalian host cells as well as environmental amoeba.
