Biography

Dr Simon Benger is a Senior Lecturer in Spatial Information Systems in the School of the Environment, at Flinders University Adelaide. His research interests include applications of GIS and remote sensing in water resources management, climate change and geohealth. He completed his PhD at the Australian National University, following his MSc at the University of Toronto. He has been the recipient of a number of prestigious national and international scholarships and fellowships.

Research Interest

Water quality and availability has significant effects on the ecological functioning of our rivers, lakes, wetlands and near-coastal systems. GIS and remote sensing play important roles in characterising change in systems over time and determining spatial distributions at a range of scales. My research focuses on a range of water-related issues and better understanding how climate-mediated conditions and water management practices impact habitats and ecological communities.
