Biography

Dr. Yaiphabi Kumam completed her undergraduate degree in Agriculture from Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, India. She cleared the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India’s examination (GAT-B) to pursue her Master of Science in Agricultural Biotechnology from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, India. She continued her doctorate program at the same university to obtain her degree in Plant Biotechnology. Currently, she is working as a post-doctoral research fellow at the Department of Agronomy, Kansas State University, Manhattan.

Research Interest

Plant genome editing using CRISPR/Cas9 and base editing technology. Agrobacterium-mediated transformation in rice. Design of gRNAs, molecular cloning, and design of constructs for mobilizing into suitable vector systems for plant transformation. RT-PCR and qRT-PCR experiments. Standardization of tissue culture protocols in weed species. Screening herbicide resistance in weed and crop species. Soybean transformation for imparting herbicide resistance.
