Journal of Meningitis focuses on causative agents, pathophysiology, etiology, preventive measures, treatment, management of meningitis, etc. Articles on bacterial meningitis, viral meningitis, fungal meningitis and diagnostic tests such as imaging, lumbar puncture and vaccines are also considered.

This scientific journal is using Editorial Manager System for maintaining quality in peer review process. Review processing is performed by the editorial board members of Journal of Meningitis or by outside experts. Minimum two independent reviewers approval followed by editor approval is mandatory for acceptance of any manuscript. Authors may submit manuscripts and track their progress through the system. Reviewers can download manuscripts and submit their opinions to the editor.

Meningococcal vaccine

Meningococcal vaccine is mainly given against Neisseria meningitides. It consists of 13 clinically significant serogroups, based on the antigenic structure of their capsule. Out of these six serogroups, A, B, C, Y, W-135, and X, are responsible for virtually all cases of the disease in humans.

Meningococcal disease describes infections caused by the bacterium Neisseria meningitidis along with blood infection leading to sepsis. The toxins released by the bacteria into the blood can cause damage to blood vessels and other in the body. The symptoms include disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), ischemia and haemorrhage.

Meningitis Statistics

According to National Association, Approximately 600 – 1,000 people contract meningococcal disease in the U.S. each year. Out of which who get meningococcal disease, 10-15 percent die. 1 in 5 lives with permanent disabilities, such as brain damage, hearing loss, loss of kidney function or limb amputations.
