Argentina is the second largest country of South America after Brazil, and the 8th largest country in the world In terms of area. The total area is approximately 2.7 million km². Argentina claims sovereignty over a part of Antarctica. The country is separated into twenty-three provinces and one autonomous city Buenos Aires, which is the federal capital of the nation as decided by its Congress. The provinces and the capital exist under a federal system in spite of have their own constitutions. 

The economy of Argentina is a high-income economy, Latin America's third largest, and the second largest in South America behind Brazil. The country benefits from rich natural resources, a highly literate population, an export-oriented agricultural sector, and a diversified industrial base. Argentina's economic performance has historically been very uneven, in which high economic growth alternated with severe recessions, particularly during the late twentieth century, and income maldistribution and poverty increased in list of orthopedics Journals.
