Biography
In 2004, supervised by Noor Kalsheker and Kevin Morgan at the University of Nottingham, I wrote my PhD thesis on genetic risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and published 4 first author papers. In 2008, I relocated to the group of Steve Younkin at Mayo Clinic where I continued to identify AD genetic risk factors, currently listed as 8 of the top 10 AD genes. My interest in the role of synaptic dysfunction in AD began with a senior author paper in Molecular Neurodegeneration and continued following my relocation to the group of Alberto Lleó at IIB-SantPau in 2011, where I have since developed my own research group searching for synaptic biomarkers. My extensive publications, participation in international collaborations and procurement of major project grants are evidence of my contribution to AD research, which has been recognized by top journals in my field for whom I am a frequent reviewer.
Research Interest
Study of the molecular basis for synaptic dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease and the search for synaptic cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers, imaging, proteomic, genetic and in vitro data for translational and multimodal studies.
