Biography
Dr. Assanie-Shivji received her Ph.D. degree in Microbiology from University of Karachi, Pakistan. Her Ph.D. research work was carried out in the Department of Pathology and Microbiology, Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi.After submitting her Ph.D. thesis, Dr. Assanie-Shivji worked as a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Cancer Endocrinology at BC Cancer Research Centre, Vancouver, B.C., Canada. After completing her post-doctoral work, she joined the Department of Biology at Claflin University, Orangeburg, South Carolina, USA, as a Research Assistant Professor. As a Research Assistant Professor, she established and started the functioning of Molecular Virology Laboratory.
Research Interest
Her research interest mainly focuses on Microbiology, Virology, Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, and MicroRNA (miRNA) expression in viral infected cell lines.
