Thomas Gee

Thomas Gee is employed as a Senior Lecturer and is currently programme leader for the ‘Strength and Conditioning in Sport’ degree at the University of Lincoln. He is an active member of the Physiology of Exercise and Sport Performance research group and his research interests include acute and longitudinal effects of resistance training on performance and health and the effects of protein and amino acid supplementation on recovery from intensive exercise. He gained his PhD, titled ‘Recovery of Muscle Function following Strength Training in Rowers’, from Northumbria University in 2012, and has subsequently published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, he is a strength and conditioning coach accredited by the UK Strength and Conditioning Association and has previously supported athletes based at the English Institute of Sport in Gateshead. He currently provides support to GB junior kayak athletes based in Lincoln and athletes funded by the University of Lincoln Sports Scholarship programme. Tom is also a competitive powerlifter, who is a previous British Senior Champion and recently achieved a bronze medal at the 2015 Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships in Canada.
