Biography
Dr. Abdul Ghafur is Consultant and Adjunct Associate Professor in infectious diseases and clinical microbiology at the Apollo Hospitals in Chennai, India. Dr. Ghafur is actively involved in mobilizing political and academic will to tackle antimicrobial resistance in his home country. In August 2012, he coordinated the first joint meeting of medical societies in India, entitled “A road map to tackle the challenge of Antimicrobial resistance”. Dr. Ghafur is the primary author of the “The Chennai Declaration”, a position paper of medical societies in India on the tackling resistance issue.
Research Interest
His research interest mainly focuses on infectious diseases and clinical microbiology.
