Biography

Dr. Moacir C. Andrade Jr. graduated in Medicine at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Universidade Federal do Amazonas (UFAM), Brazil (1986). He holds a degree in Endocrine Pharmacology from the Université Paris Diderot-Paris 7, France (1991). He specialized in Diabetology at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP), São Paulo, Brazil (2000). He completed his master's degree in Food Science at the UFAM (2006) and his doctorate in Urban Biology at the Nilton Lins University, Brazil (2016). He teaches Clinical Pharmacology, Therapeutics, and Pathophysiology I to postgraduate students of Clinical Pharmacy at the Nilton Lins University. Research areas and institutions: (1) Technology, Biochemistry, and Post-Harvest Physiology of Amazonian Fruits – Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia (INPA), (2) Health and Foods in Amazonia – Nilton Lins University.

Research Interest

His research interests include (1) the composition of typical foods of the Amazonian region, especially fermented foods and ripening fruits, (2) eating disorders in internal medicine, and (3) the development of functional foods.
