Abstract
It is well known that in a blast injury the most common organs affected are those where-ever there is an air surface interface, such as ears, lungs and intestines. Such injuries not being visible are often recognized much later as other serious injuries on the body take precedence. Screening patients exposed to blast helps to reduce morbidity. This was effectively brought out in a study conducted between two hospitals wherein in one hospital the blast injury screening program was followed and in the other it was not so. Besides this splinters lodged in the pharyngeal wall often escape detection and prove to be fatal. Nasal injuries are not stented adequately and lead to stenosis. This becomes difficult to repair later.Preparedness being crucial in trauma management this presentation highlights the common pitfalls & dilemmas faced by an ENT surgeon when managing such injuries.
