Special Issue: Acute Pain and its treatment

Acute Pain:  Acute pain is a type of pain that typically lasts less than 3 to 6 months, or pain that is directly related to soft tissue damage such as a sprained ankle or a paper cut. Acute pain is of short duration but it gradually resolves as the injured tissues heal.

Dear Collegues,

Pain is a sensory symptom of tissue damage or disorder that can either be acute or chronic. Researchers have learned a great deal about pain and its physiological and psychological basis, leading to pain management treatments that can provide complete or partial pain relief. Untreated pain can interfere with the healing process by affecting the immune system. In cases of back pain, discomfort can impede the rehabilitation process by interfering with exercise and increasing psychological distress.

To approach the patients with acute pain begins by identifying the underlying cause and a disease-specific treatment. The first-line pharmacologic agent for the symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain is acetaminophen or a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Severe acute pain is typically treated with potent opioids. At each step, adjuvant medications directed at the underlying condition can be used.

In this Special Issue we invite original research articles and state-of-the-art reviews focused on current knowledge and future perspectives on Acute Pain, Pain Management, Depression, Anesthesia, Nociceptive Pain, Antidepressants and Antiepileptic drugs, Traumatology, Post-Operative Pain, Hypnosis. It's a peer reviewed journal, serving the International Scientific Community using Editorial Manager System for online manuscript submission, review and tracking.

We kindly request authors to mention as article submission under the category of “Special Issue”.
