Biography

Dr. Aaron M. Wendelboe is an assistant professor at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) in the College of Public Health, Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology. He currently serves as an item writer on the National Board of Public Health Examiners and also as the faculty advisor for the Public Health Emergency Response Team at OUHSC. Before joining the faculty at OUHSC in 2008, Dr. Wendelboe served as an Epidemic Intelligence Service officer for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 2006 to 2008. While in this position, he was assigned to the New Mexico Department of Health where he conducted surveillance for influenza in long term care facilities and investigated many outbreaks, such as an outbreak of Escherichia coli associated with Dole spinach. In 2006, Dr. Wendelboe earned his Ph.D. in Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where his dissertation topic was the transmission of Bordetella pertussis to young infants. He has an MS in Public Health from the University of Utah and a BS in Microbiology from Brigham Young University.

Research Interest

Infectious disease epidemiology, with specialization in public health surveillance and outbreak investigations.
