Biography
Dr. Gilbert Saint-Jean graduated from medical school in Haiti where he practiced medicine and occupied several administrative positions, including director of a public health district, and division director of Haiti’s largest health care NGO. After traveling to the U.S., Dr. Saint-Jean went to work for the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians and directed their health program for five years. Dr. Saint-Jean also graduated from the University of Miami with an MPH and a PhD in Epidemiology. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health of the University Of Miami Miller School Of Medicine. Dr. Saint-Jean′s research interests include disparities in access to health care among immigrants and other minority populations, especially HIV-positive individuals. He has authored approximately two dozen peer-reviewed publications. R. Sain-Jean sits on the Board of several non-profit organizations and serves as consultant to several U.S. and international organizations.
