Biography

Richard Bell's research focuses on the behavioral and neurobiological genetics of alcohol/drug abuse and dependence using selectively bred high- and low-alcohol-consuming rat lines--animal models of family-history-positive (FHP) and family-history-negative (FHN), for alcoholism, individuals. Also, investigate behavioral and autonomic activation induced by alcohol drinking (cue-reactivity) as well as adolescence and the pharmacology of binge-like alcohol drinking, self-administration, and relapse.
