Biography

Dr. Maciej J. Danilewicz graduated in Medicine from Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland in 1997, where he subsequently became a Medical Lecturer. Upon relocating to the United Kingdom, he worked at substance misuse rehabilitation units in the independent sector, a medium secure forensic hospital, low secure forensic unit, a locked rehabilitation unit, a Substance Intervention Team Prison Service and the largest in the UK Addiction Treatment Initiative. He graduated in Cognitive Therapy studies from Oxford University in 2010 and Psychiatry studies from Cardiff University in 2013. Currently, he is a Consultant Psychiatrist at Hesley Group, and an Associate Specialist at CGL Group (former CRI Group) an addiction specialist service. Amongst his special interests is the recognition, management and treatment of substance misuse amongst patients suffering from major mental illness and development and efficacy assessment of the services. Dr. Danilewicz has a vast experience in creation, running, and assessing efficacy of the services which he exercised being the Responsible Officer for Glen Care Group and Choice Lifestyles Group. He also held the position of a Caldicott Guardian for the Choice Lifestyles Group being an advisory body to the CEO in regards to data confidentiality.

Research Interest

1. Abuse of prescribed medication in community and prison setting;
2. Efficacy of dexamphetamine in treatment of cocaine and amphetamine addiction;
3. Problems with engagement with the addiction treatment services – efficacy of methods and protocols; 4. Novel psychoactive substances – seriousness of the problem.
