About the Journal

Cosmetology and Oro Facial Surgery is the branch of medicine that deals with dental and facial defects caused either from any accident or congenital disorders which can be reconstructed by various Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeries. Journal of Cosmetology and Oro facial surgery is a peer-reviewed and open access journal with an aim to provide rapid and reliable source of information on current discoveries and current developments in the mode of original articles, review articles, case reports, short communications, etc. in all areas of the field and making them freely available through online without any restrictions or any other subscriptions to researchers worldwide.

This scholarly publishing journal operates on Editorial Manager System for online manuscript submission, review and tracking. Editorial Board Members of Journal of Cosmetology and Oro Facial Surgery or outside experts perform the review; at least two independent reviewer’s approval followed by the editor is required for the acceptance of any citable manuscript.

Maxillofacial Surgery

Maxillofacial Surgery is also part of oral surgery and dentistry. Diseases, defects and injuries in head and facial region are treated and corrected by Maxillofacial Surgery. Jaws, hard and soft tissues treatment is also part of this surgeryAny surgery or cosmetic procedure to correct any kind of problem with the mouth, jaws, facial structures and neck. In this type of surgery,surgeons do everything from correcting cleft palates to rebuilding jaws, cheeks, noses, eye sockets and foreheads damaged in accidents. Craniofacial Surgery

The speciality of congenital and deformities in head surgery is known as Craniofacial Surgery. This is also a part of plastic surgery and Oral, Maxillofacial Surgery. But it deals specially with injuries related head during accidents and diseases.

Craniofacial surgery is a surgical subclassification of plastic surgery as well as oral and maxillofacial surgery that deals with congenital and acquired deformities of the head, skull, face, neck, jaws and associated structures. Rhytidectomy

Face-lifting is an important cosmetic surgery which in medical terminology known as Rhytidectomy. This surgery is mainly done in case of reshaping the lower part of face, one third part of the skin will be removed which is excess on the face. This is done to improve the facial look and for youthful look.

Injectable Cosmetic Treatments

Apart from laser and chemical treatments, various dermatologists prefer injectable cosmetics for many skin related complaints. The more safe and effective injectable treatments are Botox, and fillers. Fillers are injected through an ultra-fine needle beneath the surface of the skin, under the wrinkle or scar, the filler acts to restore volume and fullness to the skin, thereby softening and improving its appearance. Botox and Dysport are substances that act to block the body’s chemical signals from nerves to muscles in a specific area in order to relax targeted muscles and thereby soften or eliminate wrinkles caused by repetitive muscle movements.

Blepharoplasty is the cosmetic surgery done for eye lids to repair drooping eyelids by removing the excess skin, fat and muscle which is making the eyelids to look sagged. As skin age eyelids get stretched and excess fat gets accumulated in the lower part of eyelids making it difficult for peripheral vision. This can be repaired by blepharoplasty.

Lip Reconstruction

Lip reconstruction is the process of maintaining oral competence, sufficient oral access and preservation of sensation after severe injury, burn or in case of lip cancer. Aesthetically, facial units should be reconstructed with adequate tissue match in terms of colour and texture, aiming at symmetry as well as preservation of the apparent commissure and philtral structures.

Congenital Craniofacial Malformations

Craniofacial malformations are congenital neuromuscular disorders, group of defects caused by abnormal growth of head and facial bones. Craniofacial malformations include defects or malformations of visceral arches which are predominant in 1st trimester. The cause of these malformations includes several genetic syndromes, prenatal environmental factors and nutrition.

Neck Liposuction

Neck and lower jawline is the area which is the first thing we observe, and when skin start aging the muscles and skin at the lower jawline and neck becomes weak. Fat often gets deposited in that sagging neck part which gives older look. Neck liposuction is the process of removing this excess skin, muscle and fat from the drooping part of neck to give younger look and to increase confidence.

Chemical peel

Alpha hydroxy acids often gycolic acid is used to improve appearance of the skin by causing a very mild exfoliation of the uppermost layer of the skin. The treatment is painless but rather experience tingling or warmness. These peels are meant to soften and brighten the appearance of treated skin and, in some cases, blend skin tones and improve the texture of the skin. This is an ideal treatment to enhance skin with early signs of sun damage or marks left from old acne lesions.

Temporomandibular Joint Disorders

Temporomandibular joint connects your lower jaw to the temporal bones of your skull, which are in front of each ear. It facilitates movement of your jaw, so you can talk, chew, and yawn. Temporomandibular joint and muscle disorders, commonly called "TMJ," are a group of conditions that cause pain and dysfunction in the jaw joint and the muscles that control jaw movement. The exact reason for TMJ is not known. Dentists believe symptoms arise from problems with the muscles of your jaw or with the parts of the joint itself.

Bone Anchored Hearing Aids

Bone anchored hearing aids are special surgically implanted hearing aids to transmit sound by direct conduction through the skull bone to inner ear hindering external or middle ear. The apparatus rests on skull as abutment exposing to the outside. It is usually made up of titanium.
