Biography

Elena Sarropoulou, young researcher in the Department of Genetic and Molecular Biotechnology at the Institute of Marine Biology and Genetics belonging to the Centre For Marine Research. She performed her dissertation at the Max-Planck- Institute Tuebingen and received her PhD from the Eberhards-Karls-Unverstitaet, Tuebingen, Germany. She has published peer-reviewed papers, and she was author of one book and one book chapter. She has been teaching experience of more than 5 years. She served as a reviewer of peer-reviewed journals in the area of molecular biology and Genomics. She organized 2 conferences and several workshops.

Research Interest

Functional Genomics approach for marine fish species studying the immune and stress response as well as development and sex determination. Gene expression studies of novel genes for Perciformes including their regulatory mechanisms, paralogues as well as splice forms in the light of Evolutionary Biology.
