Biography

Helen L Reeves is an academic gastroenterologist based within the Northern Institute for Cancer Research at Newcastle University Medical School.  As a clinician she is the lead for the care of North East UK patients with hepatocellular cancer.  Her research interests lie within the pathobiology of chronic liver disease and hepatopancreatobiliary cancers.  Broadly, her aim is to create and maintain the environment for successful collaboration and  translational research. Specific topics include the involvement of the tumour suppressor gene, KLF6, in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and cancer; the role of sulfatase 2 as both a biomarker and a therapeutic target, and the roles of DNA repair in HPB cancer progression.

Helen L Reeves research interests include Clinical staging and management of patients with Hepatocellular cancer, Biomarkers of HPB disease, The metabolic syndrome and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, The roles of the tumour suppressor gene KLF6 in chronic disease and cancer, SULF2 in HPB disease, DNA repair in HPB disease
