Biography
Dr. Marlene McHugh is Associate Director of the Palliative Care Service at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, which she co-developed in 2000. In addition she is Assistant Professor of Nursing at Columbia University. Ms. McHugh has a clinical nursing background in medical surgical nursing, oncology, critical care and as well as primary care. She received her graduate degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner and her doctoral degree from Columbia University. She completed a fellowship in Pain Medicine and Palliative Care in 1999 at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. She is an ELNEC trainer End-of Life Nursing Education from the American Nurses Association, has presented nationally and internationally on various palliative care topics, has published on palliative care and in 2007 was the recipient of the Glenda Garvey M.D. Teaching Academy Educational Grant at Columbia University,Creating an Educational Partnership in Palliative Care.
