Biography

Dr. Nabila Bennani-Baiti is a former fellow of the Harry R. Horvitz Center for Palliative Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic, a World Health Organization Demonstration Project in Palliative Medicine, and a European Society for Medical Oncology Designated Center of Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care. She started her research career studying the molecular mechanisms of apoptosis in glioblastomas at the Brain Tumor Institute/ Cancer Biology Department at the Cleveland Clinic, developing and troubleshooting small RNA interference technology. She has later carried out translational research with animal models of glioblastoma multiforme studying the effects of different chemotherapeutic agents on these particularly aggressive tumors. Currently, Dr. Bennani-Baiti is part of Fairview Hospital, a Cleveland Clinic Health System Hospital, but will be moving to William Beaumont Hospital.

Research Interest

Dr. Nabila Bennani-Baiti s research covers both solid malignancies and lymhoproliferative disorders. Dr. Bennani-Baiti s research interests involve several aspects of palliative medicine including prognostic markers in solid tumors, as well as the role of pro-inflammatory cytokines in inducing many of the symptoms associated with cancer, including fatigue, insomnia, anorexia, and cachexia.
