Biography

Dr. Gao was trained as a medical doctor with Tongji Medical University, holds a PhD degree in Epidemiology and Health Statistics from Huazhong University of Science & Technology. She has over 15 years’ postdoctoral research experience in a wide range of public health topics. In recent years, her primary research areas have been extended from preventive medicine to palliative care and end of life care medicine, pharmacoepidemiology, health service research, quality of life research and clinical trials. She has strong quantitative skills with particular interests in using linked large scale database to improve our understandings about diseases and healthcare. She is a reviewer for leading scientific journals, including The Lancet, The Lancet Oncology and The Lancet series. She is also a reviewer for the UK’s major funding bodies including the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).

Research Interest

Dr. Gao research interests include cancer epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, end of life care research, infectious disease epidemiology, chronic disease epidemiology, population-based aetiological epidemiology, and health service research.
