The genital tract of women wedged between the GI and urological tracts, shares with those tracts the pelvic floor. Frequently
the pathologies of the GI and urological tracts have important consequences on the genital tract by extension of the
disease or by irradiation of the disease related pain and dysfunction. Irritable bowel syndrome and interstitial cystitis are good
exemples of such clinical management challenges. The reverse is also true: disease of the genital tract will affect the urological
tract or the GI tracts. Essential vulvodynia and provoked vestibulodynia are good exemples of such clinical management
challenges. This presentation will delineate the impacts of GI and urological tracts diseases on the genital tracts and the impacts
of genital tract disease on the GI and urological tracts. Discussion about complexity of symptoms and diagnostic challenges,
pharmaceutical and non pharmaceutical approaches, psychometric and medical testing as well as psychosexual counseling will
take place. Examples of multidisciplinary team approach will be presented. Demonstration will be made of the many benefits
derived from such a multidisciplinary team approach.
