Abstract
Atalk about the latest evidence based management of upper gastrointestinal bleeding. This will include an explanation of the pathogenesis of peptic ulcer disease and variceal bleed and the rationale for the various treatment steps. It will include practical steps for the successful management of gastrointestinal bleeds and what measures to take when the endoscopic intervention is unsuccessful.
Biography
Sherif Safwat, MBchB, MRCP (UK) is a consultant in Acute Medicine and Endoscopy at Mid Essex Health Authority, UK. Along with running the Emergency Admission unit at Broomfield Hospital he has a special interest in management of acute gastrointestinal bleeding and endoscopy/ colonoscopy training.
