Biography

Dr. Eva Rodriguez has been a faculty member in the Occupational Therapy Program at Stony Brook University since 1996. Her current responsibility in the Occupational Therapy program are Program Chairperson, and has extensive experience teaching courses that address the needs of children, families, and the use of assistive technology for both children and adults. She is certified in the Administration and Interpretation of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT), as well as, in Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT) for the pediatric population. She has received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from CUNY @ York College, a Master’s of Arts degree in Pediatric Dysphagia from Lesley University, and her PhD degree is in Post Secondary and Adult Education from Capella University. Prof. Rodriguez’ research interests are in the areas of youth with learning disabilities and their families, disability studies, post secondary education areas.

Research Interest

Dr. Eva Rodriguez research interests include Learning Disabilities in children and effects on role development, Learning disabled children self perceptions based teacher interaction, Disability, Empowerment, and Health Promotion, Disability Culture and Cultural Perceptions of Disability among the Latino Pediatric Population, Self-Management and Quality of Life Issues in children and adolescents with Chronic Illnesses , Parental Styles and their influences on promoting self-management in children with chronic illnesses, Medical, educational and social service systems for children with chronic illnesses and their families in the United States, Critical Thinking and Clinical reasoning skills in entry level Occupational Therapy students, Knowledge acquirement, Independence, Empowerment, and Learning Disabilities in children.
