Lisbeth Birk Moller

Lisbeth Birk Møller, PhD
Senior scientist
Applied Human Molecular Genetics

Biography

Lisbeth Birk Møller’s research has been focused on functional analyses of proteins at molecular and genetic level. She investigated the effect of mutations in several proteins and concentrated on the effect of disease causing mutations. For years she has been investigated mutations leading to different neurological disorders such as; Menkes disease, Wilson Disease, Phenyl Ketonuria and Dopa responsive dystonia (due to mutations in Tyrosine Hydroxylase or GTP-Cyclohydrolase 1). She has been focused on genotype/phenotype correlations. For the last five years she has been interested in the contribution of genetic factors in pain perception, in order to understand mechanisms underlying pain sensitivity. She also investigated the effect of mutations in the GTP-Cyclohydrolase 1. She investigated a mice model for GTP-cyclohydrolase deficiency (hph-1 mice) and investigated patients with Doparesponsive dystonia due to mutations in GTP-cyclohydrolase 1.
